Due to a recent restructure, an opportunity has become available for a Manager of Finance and Sourcing to join this tight-knit team in Wagga Wagga, NSW.

In addition to a salary of $126,985.04 - $142,922.52 depending on skills/experience, the successful candidate will receive a generous 16% superannuation contribution, and optional salary sacrificing.

About the Role

You will draw on your knowledge of procurement practices, tendering and contract management to ensure financial operations within the organisation are optimised, while also conducting continuous reviews of the overarching frameworks as needed. While you will be overseeing a broader team of 5-10 people, the tight-knit nature of the organisation means the successful candidate will be someone who is not afraid to roll up their sleeves from time to time.

Day to day tasks may include:

  • Project-based work to support the Council’s digital transformation efforts
  • Managing the council’s investment portfolio
  • Liaising with key internal and external stakeholders e.g. business venture partners, Council Engineers, etc
  • Strategic procurement activities
  • Coordinating and executing audits related to both finance and procurement
  • Stakeholder engagement, including liaising with the council board

About You

You will ideally hold relevant tertiary qualifications in finance/business/accounting or similar, however candidates with significant demonstrated experience in a similar role will be considered. Knowledge of relevant accounting, taxation and regulatory requirements will also be essential in successfully performing this role. 

While demonstrated leadership and management abilities will be beneficial, this role will also suit someone with minimal leadership experience, but significant technical knowledge, as the position will include ongoing support and training where necessary.

The following qualities will also be viewed favourably, though not essential:

  • Knowledge of Local Government Act 1993 and an understanding of Local Government administration
  • Relevant post-grad qualification e.g. CA or CPA
  • Knowledge of local government tendering and procurement processes
