Pintupi Homelands Health Service (PHHS) is an expanding AGPAL-accredited primary healthcare facility located in Kintore. We have a dedicated team of nurses, health promotion officers, Aboriginal Health Workers, doctors and support staff that help provide health services to the close-knit community.

We now have a rewarding opportunity for an Aged Care Support Worker to join our team in Kintore, NT and make a real difference in the lives of the members of our community. You will receive 6 weeks annual leave, and 4 weeks isolation leave and travel anywhere in Australia covered. 

Please note: we are located in remote Australia and as such, previous experience working in a remote location is crucial to your success. 

Benefits on offer

This role comes with an attractive salary circa $72,000 PLUS super and salary sacrificing options up to $15,900. The best news is that you'll barely have to spend any of your wage on your living costs while you're in Kintore! You will receive fantastic benefits such as subsidised housing with all utilities paid for only $20 a week.

In addition to this, you will have 6 weeks of annual leave and 4 weeks of isolation leave a year. Halfway through your 10-week stint, we will give you a long weekend in Alice Springs.

As our newest Aged Care Support Worker, you will support elderly community members to live with dignity and personal wellbeing, assisting with activities supporting their household management and lifestyle.

Kintore is a remote Aboriginal community where you will have the opportunity to connect with Indigenous culture in a meaningful way, provide culturally appropriate support, and develop your professional skills. 

This role will take you to one of the most remote communities in Australia, where you'll get to experience community life with all of its incredible wins and challenges. You will work with the freedom to travel outside of Kintore as you wish on your two-week break. Pintupi pays for your travel wherever you want to go during that time, whether it's back home to spend some time with loved ones or somewhere brand new for a well-earned holiday!

Role specifics:

  • Based in Kintore, NT
  • 6 weeks annual leave and 4 weeks isolation leave

  • Reporting to the aged care coordinator 

What you bring to the table

The most important thing you will bring to this role is empathy, understanding, and patience. You will be caring for older people and liaising with their families to ensure that you and your team are providing the best quality of care you can. It is crucial that you have previous experience working in a remote location. 

Communication is another skill that will be key to your success in this role. You will need to communicate effectively with older people, families, and your team. Many of the older community members of Kintore don't speak English as their first language, which means that in this role, personal or professional experience with language barriers and similar communication challenges will help you hit the ground running. 

Cultural understanding and cross-cultural teamwork will also be crucial for this role. You will be interested and engaged in learning about cultural differences and listening to the experiences and challenges of others. 

A Cert III in Home and Community Care will help you hit the ground running in your role, but if you are yet to obtain this qualification, we will help you develop the skills you'll need. 

Please Note: Before commencing in this role, you will need a current Driver's Licence and a national police check. You will also need to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Located in the Northern Territory, Kintore is 530 kilometres west of Alice Springs.
