Who We Are

Oscar Romero Flexi Schools are part of Edmund Rice Education Australia. The Flexible Schools offer a full-time and multiyear secondary education program for young people who have disengaged from mainstream schooling. The young people enrolled in our programs typically express a broad range of complex education and social needs and the Flexi Schools respond with a variety of flexible and innovative teaching, learning and wellbeing programs including wellbeing support, educational and vocational pathways and the development of social capabilities and connections with the local community.

Our Edmund Rice Flexi School provides an educational and wellbeing program for young people aged 12 – 21 years of age. Our Flexi school is in Elizabeth and operates across 2 sites in Elizabeth and Davoren Park. Our purpose is to re-engage young people who are looking to access a different way of learning. Fundamental to our operation is creating a “Common Ground” based on our principles of Respect, Participation, Honesty and Safe & Legal. Staff and young people come together on this common ground’ where everyone has a voice in making decisions and establishing working agreements to foster a positive environment where young people can achieve positive educational and wellbeing outcomes.

In return for your hard work and dedication, you will be rewarded with an attractive remuneration package Circa $120k to $130k + super per annum, based on your experience level (in line with the South Australian Catholic Schools Enterprise Agreement 2017) as well as genuine opportunities for ongoing professional development. How You'll Make a Difference

Reporting to the Head of Campus and the Network Principal, the Associate Head of Campus will be responsible for supporting staff in the development of educational programs for young people. The successful candidate will also take ownership of the development of the campus curriculum and ensure all young people are empowered to meet its requirements through a personal learning plan.

Some of the day to duties of this role may include:

  • Developing and implementing educational assessments 
  • Collaborating with other staff members to ensure each young person on campus has an up-to-date Personal Plan for Learning 
  • Supporting staff to meet all legislative requirements with respect to young people with disabilities
  • Collaborating with staff to assist young people in their transition into the school

Note: This is a full-time (ongoing) role on a five year contract

What You'll Bring to the Team

Crucial to the success of this role will be a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the education sector. While curriculum development in some capacity is also essential, the successful candidate will be one who does not limit themselves to a mainstream education approach to curriculum development, instead taking into consideration the unique needs of the young people on campus. 

The ideal candidate will be compassionate, empathetic and not afraid to roll up their sleeves when needed to ensure the job gets done. 

Some other requirements for this position include:

  • Registration with the Teacher Registration Board of South Australia
  • Tertiary qualifications in Education
  • Experience working with young people disenfranchised from mainstream education
  • Working with children check

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Current driver’s license
  • Post-graduate qualifications in educational leadership, special education or a related field
