Oscar Romero Flexi Schools are part of Edmund Rice Education Australia. These Flexi Schools in SA, WA and the NT offer a full-time and multiyear secondary education program for young people who have disengaged from mainstream schooling. The young people enrolled in our programs typically express a broad range of complex education and social needs, and the Flexi Schools respond with a variety of flexible and innovative teaching, learning and wellbeing programs, including wellbeing support, educational and vocational pathways and the development of social capabilities and connections with the local community.

Our purpose is to re-engage young people who are looking to access a different way of learning. Fundamental to our operation is creating a “Common Ground” based on our principles of Respect, Participation, Honesty and Safe & Legal. Staff and young people come together on this ‘common ground’ where everyone has a voice in making decisions and establishing working agreements to foster a caring and inclusive learning environment where young people can achieve positive educational and wellbeing outcomes.

Our Network team, supporting our 5 Flexi schools, is expanding, and we now have an exciting new opportunity for an Assistant Principal - Staff Formation and Professional Practice to join our team on a full-time basis. The role is to support the Head of Campus and Staff in the formation, professional development and understanding of our EREA Flexi Practice.

This is a five-year fixed-term contract, and you can be based in our Woodforde, SA office. Other locations may be negotiated with the successful applicant. Commencement is Mid-January 2023

Please note: regular travel to Network Campuses is a requirement of this role.

You will collaborate with Network leadership to support schools, staff and young people around Flexi practice, professional development and facilitation group decision-making processes.

  • Staff professional development
  • Teaching, learning and EREA Flexi practice
  • EREA Identity leadership and Staff Formation
  • Strategic Development

Please note before commencing in the role, you will have (or be willing to obtain) a Working with Children’s Check, a Driver’s License and have your own vehicle.

What you will bring to the team

To thrive in this role, you will possess a qualification in teaching and a minimum of five years of demonstrated experience as an educator.

While flexible in your approach, you will have the ability to facilitate learning and development for teachers in our network schools.

You will be a dedicated and genuine individual with strong leadership and interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively lead and motivate a team of educators while ensuring the best outcomes for our young people.

Although not essential, previous leadership experience or experience working in Flexi schools is highly regarded.

Employment within Catholic Education South Australia is conditional upon the provision of evidence of vaccination against COVID-19 or the provision of a valid medical exemption in line with CESA policy.
