 Oscar Romero Flexi Schools are part of Edmund Rice Education Australia. The Flexible Schools offer a full-time and multiyear secondary education program for young people who have disengaged from mainstream schooling. Our Edmund Rice Flexi School – Davoren Park Campus, South Australia seeks a suitably qualified and passionate individual to join our team as a SACE teacher with some work also at our Elizabeth Campus, South Australia.

Your Next Opportunity

We are looking for a SACE-experienced Teacher to teach and develop SACE programs – English, Arts, Research Project and PLP, who can create a flexible and innovative curriculum to engage students.

Reporting to the Head of Campus and the Network Principal, you will implement learning programs that cater to the needs of senior secondary-aged students looking to reconnect with education in an inclusive and flexible setting. Through these learning programs, you will encourage our young people to achieve educational, and well-being outcomes and positively contribute to their community.

Core duties:

  • Plan, prepare and deliver engaging learning and teaching programs for Senior Secondary education-level students
  • Develop and implement the ERFS’s objectives and strategic plans
  • Contribute to the establishment and maintenance of a supportive school environment

This role comes with an attractive salary circa $77,000 – $108,000 (commensurate with qualifications and experience) plus super. You will also enjoy additional benefits, including ongoing professional development opportunities and a supportive and welcoming work environment.

While this is a challenging role where you will be working in a hands-on capacity with disenfranchised individuals, the ability to engage with these individuals and witness their growth and progression will bring a satisfaction not always found in traditional teaching roles.

What you will bring to the team

Our schools focus on personalised and individual learning and promotes a caring and supportive environment for each young person. To thrive in this role, you will be a compassionate professional, and ideally, you will have experience working with young people who have been disenfranchised from mainstream education.

You will also have the skills and knowledge in teaching processes gained through experience teaching in a senior school role. Candidates with SACE experience will be highly regarded. Candidates with experience gained in a middle school are also encouraged to apply. Experience developing an innovative curriculum and Individual Learning Plans will enable you to step into this role seamlessly.

This role will vary daily to reflect our young people's diverse needs to support their learning. Crucial to this role will be your ability to empathise, mentor and support our students with compassion and respect.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND CERTIFICATES

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in teaching
  • Teaching registration with the Teacher Registration Board of SA
  • As per legislation, applicants must hold or be willing to obtain a DHS Working with Children Check before commencement working with us, .
  • A current ‘C’ driver’s license
  • Current First Aid or willingness to obtain
  • Current Responding to Abuse & Neglect Training or a willingness to obtain
  • Current COVID-19 Vaccination certificate
