About the Organisation
The Gurindji Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC was launched in 2013. We are a 100% community-owned, not-for-profit enterprise focused on improving the social and economic wellbeing of all community members in Kalkaringi.
We advocate and work to improve the social and economic wellbeing of our community through enterprise, improved housing and facilities, local employment and preserving Gurindji culture and heritage.
Through advocacy, effective native title agreement-making and partnerships, we’re delivering significant social and economic benefits across key areas of:
- Community enterprise and local employment

We now have an opportunity for a dedicated and experienced Chief Executive Officer to join Gurindji Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC and begin managing the general operations of the organisation.

About the Role
As our next Chief Executive Officer, you will work closely with the Board of Directors to continue growing the Corporation into a thriving community development enterprise.
The role will be diverse, challenging and rewarding as you work closely with a range of stakeholders to achieve our community goals.
Core duties include, but are not limited to:
- Community services: develop enterprise opportunities for the local community and coordinate ongoing community engagement
- Business planning and execution: develop a Corporation Business Plan and identify funding opportunities
- Board liaison: provide effective and timely reports to Board about organisational matters
- Compliance: manage legislative requirements and ORIC Governance requirements (assisted by ClarityNT)
You will be well supported in your role, both with a committed Board and with the legal, business, and compliance partners that we work with to ensure operations are always above-board.
You will also have the opportunity for periodic travel to surrounding communities.
What You Will Bring to the Organisation
To be considered for this role, you will have a strong background in Project Management, Business Development, and General Management. You will draw on your experience with building stakeholder relationships to develop strategic partnerships with existing stakeholders as well as identify new opportunities for collaboration.
Critical to your success as our next Chief Executive Officer will also be the demonstrated ability to work in and with Indigenous peoples in remote communities.
You will be an effective leader with strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work with senior managers, peers and staff. You will also be a skilled negotiator with a disciplined and robust approach to management, offering stability and leadership in challenging circumstances.
Though not essential, formal qualifications in Business Development, Management or Community Development will be highly regarded. Other desirable traits include an existing network in the NT, relationships with key agencies, first aid certification and a light rigid driver’s licence.
