Your Next Opportunity

As our next Senior Administrator, your primary responsibility will be to provide technical expertise to assist in the management and support of Unix hosting services and associated ICT infrastructure.

Our Department is currently in the process of consolidating our Unix hosting services onto Linux on VMware so you’ll be working collaboratively with our contracted Unix administrators to build and manage a mature, enterprise-grade platform. This will involve rigorous design, ongoing administration and monitoring, so strong diagnostic and solid scripting skills will be essential in performing this role.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Design, implement, maintain, and enhance Linux infrastructure as well as shell and Python scripts within these environments
  • Research, analyse and report on new and emerging technologies that may be of benefit to the Department
  • Provide expert technical advice and assistance to the IT Service Desk and on any other projects that have an ICT-enabling component
  • Provide technical leadership and manage projects to deliver systems and maintain robust ICT hosting services

What You’ll Bring to the Team

To be considered for this role, you’ll need to have a demonstrated high-level understanding of technical support, problem resolution, system design, and diagnostics of Linux-based operating systems, IT infrastructure, and facilities that provide enterprise application hosting.

You’ll be a true diagnostician, with the ability to identify hosting and network problems and implement well-designed long-term solutions as needed to strengthen the overall infrastructure.

Your highly developed communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills will be critical in maintaining working within the team and fostering and maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders, vendors and business partners.

Other requirements for this role include:

  • Experience with network management and related technologies such as TCP networks and firewalls
  • The ability to write and code in structured Python and perform deep-level automation (e.g. interface automation, monitoring scripts, etc)
