Making a real difference in the lives of survivors
We are a non-government organisation working collaboratively within service provision systems in the ACT and surrounding areas to provide services and programs to eliminate sexual violence against women, young people, children, men and families.
Our crisis line is a key service that is critical in ensuring the ongoing wellbeing of the community. We operate from 7 am – 11 pm, providing counselling to victims and their families and community education programs.

This role comes with attractive rates circa $56.15 per hour (base salary + 25% casual loading) + super, with some flexibility to choose the hours that will suit your lifestyle. You'll also receive clinical and cultural supervision within a supportive work environment!
Our offices in Canberra are conveniently located close to public transport and with free parking on site. A vehicle allowance is also provided as the occasional use of your reliable vehicle may be required, though company vehicles are more often used.

Your role
In this role, you will provide crisis support, counselling, outreach, information, advocacy, group work, community education and training to people from diverse cultures and backgrounds, including those from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities who have experienced sexual violence.
You will be required to participate in the crisis telephone roster and 24-hour callout roster.
Core duties:
- Answer the Crisis Line when rostered;
- Provide face-to-face counselling service by appointment;
- Attend call-outs to Medical, Police and Forensic services when rostered;
- Provide community education in a range of settings such as schools and other community agencies;
- Plan, develop and facilitate therapeutic and support groups as well as education and training;
- Represent CRCC in meetings, forums and events as required, including participation in CRCC community education activities; and
- Develop, coordinate and monitor case plans in collaboration with clients, CRCC team members and with staff of key agencies.

What we need from you
To thrive in this role, you will possess a tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology or Counselling and strong knowledge and understanding of the causes and consequences of sexual violence.
While not essential, demonstrated experience in a similar role will be highly regarded.
You will have a genuine commitment and interest in working in a community-based organisation, and you will have the proven ability to work independently within a team environment, identify priorities, meet deadlines and manage your own workload.
Please note: The successful applicant will be required to possess a Working with Vulnerable People Card and complete a Police Check. A current driver’s licence is also required.
