About the Opportunity

Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology now has exciting opportunities for full-time Laboratory Assistants to join our Microbiology/Molecular teams in Bowen Hills, QLD. 

After training has been provided, some of your duties will include (but will not be limited to):

• Performing specimen log-in, retrieval processing and filing;
• Conducting DNA/RNA extraction;
• Handling phone enquiries and reagent preparation;
• Operating specimen handling instruments; and
• Performing general laboratory duties as assigned by Laboratory Management.

The successful candidate will ideally have the following: 

• The ability to deliver a pathology service involving adminstrative laboratory pre-analytical duties
• Previous experience in a pathology laboratory, particularly in addressing outstanding/pending tests and sample storage retrieva
• Demonstrated interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills and the ability to work as an effective member of the team
• Demonstrated ability to prioritise workload and work methodically and efficiently whilst adhering to occupational health and saftey policies
• The ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• The ability to be an effective team member and have a positive influence amongst other staff, and
• A sound knowledge of computers and software, in particular Excel.

You will be required to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to prioritise your workload and complete your work tasks accurately and efficiently. You will also possess a strong commitment to laboratory turnaround times, a high attention to detail and strong customer service skills. Importantly, you'll be a self-motivated and effective worker, whether undertaking tasks autonomously or as part of a team, and consistently display accuracy in the processing and recording of results.
