The Opportunity:

We now have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Workplace Health and Safety & Risk Management Coordinator to join our team in Tenterfield, NSW.

In this highly varied role, you will facilitate, develop, implement and review our WHS and Risk Management strategies, including the Health and Safety Management Plan.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop, implement and review risk management policies, procedures and systems
  • Identify risks in the immediate workplace and participate in risk assessments and procedural reviews;
  • Investigate accidents, injuries, incidents and near misses and determine corrective actions and required procedural changes
  • Coordinate bi-monthly meetings of both toolbox meetings and WHS committees; and
  • Assist in Council’s worker’s compensation claims, including handling initial claims.

You’ll be great in this role because:

To thrive in this role, you will possess, at a minimum, a Certificate IV in Workplace Health and Safety and previous experience working in a similar role and mitigating risk.

You will be a confident and community-oriented individual who is comfortable working out of the office and building strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders within the Council and other governing bodies.

Above all, your self-drive and determination to ensure safety and compliance are at the forefront of Council operations will go a long way to ensuring success in this multifaceted and extremely integrated position.

Moreover, you will remain steadfast in your approach to WHS & Risk Management and act as a guide to motivate team members to assume responsibility for their compliance requirements.

Please Note: The successful candidate must have a current, unrestricted Australian driver's licence and hold, or be willing to obtain, a National Criminal History Record Check prior to commencing employment.
