About the Opportunities

Banyan House has fantastic opportunities for a Clinical Program Coordinator and a number of dedicated Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Workers to join their welcoming team in Berrimah, Darwin.

These are varied roles, in which you will work closely with other staff and residents as you facilitate group activities, case manage individual treatment plans, support and challenge individual and group behaviours, and share social times such as meals.

More specifically, the successful applicants for both roles will be required to:

  • Act as a positive role model to staff and residents and abide by House Rules;
  • Facilitate residents' therapy through individual case management, facilitated group activities, and participation in house activities with residents;
  • Assist in the routine and the overall management of residents and the therapeutic community;
  • Accurately produce and maintain various records and reports, in accordance with AOD standards and Banyan House procedures; and
  • Take personal responsibility your professional development.

Additionally, the Clinical Program Coordinator will coordinate the delivery of Banyan House’s residential rehabilitation program and therapeutic services, supervise staff and evaluate and review programs to ensure they are working effectively.

Banyan House is seeking applicants who hold relevant qualifications - tertiary qualifications in Health or Social Sciences for the Coordinator, and Certificate IV Community Services (Alcohol & Drugs) for the Rehabilitation Workers. You will also have experience working in the sector, and well developed AOD rehabilitation practice skills, such as counselling, assessments and conducting groups or training sessions.

To succeed in these rewarding roles, applicants will need well developed interpersonal, group and written communication skills, and the ability to use these skills effectively with people from a diverse range of backgrounds. Dealing closely with people facing personal challenges means you will also require emotional stability and a level of personal robustness, allowing you the manage interpersonal confrontation and pressure that is common in rehabilitation therapy.

It is essential that you possess a current driver's licence and a First Aid Certificate. A Light Rigid Licence endorsement will be advantageous.

You will also need to demonstrate a degree of flexibility. Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Workers will work rostered shift work, while the Coordinator role will work day shifts, but may be requested to occasionally work early or late shifts as required.

In return for your hard work and commitment you will enjoy generous remuneration:

  • Clinical Program Coordinator - $29.10/hr increasing to $30.56/hr
  • Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Worker - $21.94/hr increasing to $23.21/hr

You will also be entitled to a sleep-over allowance of $42/night when appropriate. In addition to your wages, Banyan House employees may salary sacrifice up to $15,596 per annum tax-free, increasing the take-home value of your pay!
