Cabonne Shire Council is in Central NSW, is approximately four hours' drive west of Sydney, and only 30 km from Orange. We encompass many towns and localities, including Borenore, Cudal, Cumnock, Cargo, Eugowra, Manildra, Molong, Mullion Creek, Toogong, and Yeoval.

We’re currently looking for Road Maintenance Officers to join our Transport Infrastructure team full-time. Be part of the effort to rebuild our regional roads after the devastating flood events impacting our LGA in 2022.

The Opportunity

Our Road Maintenance Officers are based in Molong, Cudal, or Orange and work as part of the maintenance and construction team to repair, maintain, and rebuild the road network in Cabonne. When you join our team, you will be working a 76-hour fortnight, nine days a week, with opportunities for overtime.

As our newest Road Maintenance Officers, you will join a motivated team that prides themselves on their quality work. You will be involved in roadside construction activities involving manual works, traffic control and equipment operations.

Working alongside a hardworking team, you will have opportunities to learn and progress, as many of our supervisors have been where you are!

You will work as a member of our team to assist in relevant roadworks effectively and efficiently.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Undertake road construction, maintenance activities, traffic control, manual works, and roadside maintenance;
  • Complete site-specific inductions and actively participate in toolbox meetings;
  • Accurately complete all relevant records including timesheets, prestart checklists, risk assessments and other legislative-related paperwork; and
  • Ad hoc light plant maintenance and operations within your capabilities and certification.

You will have:

  • Construction White Card
  • Unrestricted Australian Driver’s License
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to understand and follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
  • Demonstrated commitment to a team-based approach
  • Current Implement Traffic Control Plans and Traffic Controller Certification (preferred but we can help you obtain)

When you join us, you’ll get a salary equivalent to grades 2-4, dependent on experience, circa $50,195 - $56,732.
