About Sunrise
Sunrise Health Service Aboriginal Corporation is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation.
The Sunrise approach involves Aboriginal communities taking part in controlling their own health. Everything from financial management and governance, staff selection and service delivery priorities are delegated by the organisation's Aboriginal Board and Community Health Committees.
Servicing nine communities spread over 75,000 square kilometers, the Sunrise footprint covers Aboriginal communities that are some of the most disadvantaged in the Territory with some of the most complex health issues. Yet despite this, the ethos and practices of Sunrise Health have it be a leader within both National and Territory performance indicators.
Acute health care does not make people well - it is only when health issues and the social determinants of health are addressed, that families and communities become well – a challenge that Sunrise Health is committed to addressing with each of its communities, and with the expectation that each of its employees will adopt and uphold this culture.
About the Opportunity
Sunrise Health Service Aboriginal Corporation is currently recruiting for a full-time Executive Manager to lead their remote Primary Health Care and Community Service teams. Based in Katherine, NT, and reporting to the CEO, this is a key leadership role that will see you managing the current and future delivery priorities of primary health care and complimentary community services. The role will regularly evaluate the quality of care and ensure that each of the 9 remote health centres and our community services are operating according to relevant industry standards and in line with our ethos.
Sunrise is excited for a new phase to begin and is looking for someone with the energy and genuine passion to continue building on their vision.
Your key responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:
- Oversight and high-level management of clinical services and community programs.
- Providing strategic clinical service planning and operational service delivery advice and tactical recommendations to your management team and the wider Executive Management Team.
- Support your managers to deliver funding objectives within the Health Centres and community service teams.
- Work closely with the Senior Medical Officer on the implementation of public health initiatives that involve health centre staff at the local level;
- Interpret and provide regular analysis of data on health status, care delivery, and any emerging trends; and
- Ensure all staff comply with relevant policies, standards and procedures, as well as maintain current AGPAL and ISO accreditation in all Sunrise activities.
What will you need to succeed?
To be successful in this position you will need to be a fully qualified Registered Nurse or senior Aboriginal Health Practitioner, with current AHPRA registration. Over your career you'll have extensive clinical management experience in a multiple-clinic environment, with additional post-graduate qualifications in a management or community development related field, alongside practical strategic management experience.
With a strong background in Remote Area Nursing, you'll understand the importance of a holistic approach to health, targeting the root cause of common community health issues, such as lack of access to quality food, overcrowded housing, and fewer education, or employment opportunities. You will also demonstrate functional experience in report writing, budgeting and acquitting funding streams as well as solid stakeholder management skill. You will have wide experience in clinical auditing and compliance.
As part of the executive team, you will be committed to supporting local communities and achieving Sunrise's goals, and genuinely interested in a long-term career with the organisation. Whilst highly process driven, able to ensure strict compliance with a range of policies and legislation, you'll keep a view towards the future and be committed to the continuous improvement process.
It's crucial that you can show initiative, problem solve, and take action where needed on clinical or human resource issues. Not content to stick with ‘good enough’, your ability to identify areas for improvement and commitment to innovation will help you to drive real change and support better health outcomes for the communities that Sunrise supports.

- 6 weeks leave per year;
