We are seeking a forward-thinking Manager Assets to lead the development and continuous improvement of our asset management function.
This role is ideal for a strategic leader with deep technical knowledge and strong communication skills.
About the Role
As the Manager Assets, you will guide asset strategy from concept through lifecycle management, working closely with operational teams, finance, and leadership
You will provide expert leadership in the planning, development, and integration of Council’s Asset Management Plans, systems, and standards.
This role guides the long-term stewardship of Council’s physical assets, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and supporting evidence-based decision making.
Key focuses include:
- Leading the development, implementation and enhancement of asset management strategies, systems and service levels
- Overseeing asset condition assessments and providing recommendations for maintenance, renewal and replacement programs
- Ensuring asset systems integrate effectively with broader IT and financial systems
- Driving annual and long-term capital, renewal and maintenance planning
- Providing expert advice to the Director Infrastructure Services, Council, committees, and cross-departmental stakeholders
- Leading asset valuation processes and liaising with the CFO, auditors and internal teams
- Managing grant funding processes, compliance activities and WHS and risk documentation

About You
You are a skilled leader with a solid foundation in civil engineering, IT or Accounting including asset management or GIS, and a proven ability to guide complex asset programs.
You excel at motivating teams, solving problems, and working collaboratively across an organisation.
You will bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Asset Management, IT or Accounting and/or extensive experience in Geographic Information Systems or other relevant fields (minimum 3 years)
- Impeccable attention to detail whilst balancing big-picture thinking
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Highly developed analytical, organisational, project and financial management capability
- Extensive understanding of data integration, reconciliation and reporting processes between Asset Management, Finance, Data Management and GIS
- Strong computer skills including the ability to model complex spreadsheets and large datasets
- Commitment to safety, risk management and customer service
- Current Australian driver’s licence and White Card
What We Offer:
- 9-day fortnight, in a secure full-time position
- Flexibility which may extend to a possible 4-day week arrangement (35 hours per week)
- Long service leave entitlements after 5 years
- The salary range for this position is currently within the range of $1,739.45 to $2,000.37 (plus civil liability allowance, if applicable) per week + Super
- Council may negotiate a market component for an exceptional applicant
- A motor vehicle in accordance with Council's motor vehicle leaseback arrangement is available, or accordingly the successful applicant may choose to receive a vehicle allowance instead
