About the Organisation
Heathgate Resources formed in 1990, is the owner and operator of the state-of-the-art Beverley Uranium Mine in northern South Australia. Beverley is Australia's third uranium mine.
From the outset, Heathgate Resources has been committed to developing and operating Beverley as a model In Situ Recovery mine. The Beverley mine has a low environmental impact while producing benefits for the world through the supply of uranium for peaceful purposes as well as for South Australia, through initial investment and, now, through long-term, full-time employment and royalty income.
About the Opportunity
Heathgate Resources is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Senior Plant Metallurgist to join their close-knit team in the northern Flinders Ranges, SA. Ideally, candidates will be based in South Australia and work on a FIFO arrangement to the mine site.
Reporting to the Plant Production Manager, the primary aim of this role is to oversee the Plant's daily operation including supervision of plant staff, metallurgical investigations and testing for the Beverley plant. At times, the Senior Plant Metallurgist may also be required to act in the capacity of Control Operator and Production Manager.
More specifically, some of your daily responsibilities will include:
- Assisting in the design, sourcing, testing and commissioning of new equipment;
- Undertaking mass and energy balances, including metallurgical accounting;
- Overseeing metallurgical test work for the development of new deposits;
- Optimising plant performance through supervision of plant staff, research, investigation and test work;
- Investigating and troubleshooting plant performance shortfalls; and
- Preparing technical reports on findings and results.
The successful candidate will possess tertiary qualifications in Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering and significant experience, preferably in a production environment.
Experience in leading and managing staff is essential, along with well developed problem solving, team building and planning skills.
You will also have high level mathematical skills, with a particular emphasis on material quantities.
Your strong analytical skills will be supported by solid report writing and communications skills, along with intermediate to advanced skills in standard software such as the Microsoft Office Suite.
Whilst not essential, experience in uranium metallurgy, field and laboratory testing, process design and control, and experience in government regulatory frameworks is highly desirable.
About the Benefits
This role is offered on a FIFO basis, working 12 hour shifts with 8 days on and 6 days off (which averages approximately 6 months a year). All flights will be provided from Parafield or Port Augusta.
