About the Opportunity

An exciting opportunity exists for a Labour Relations/Human Resources Representative to join BFI Constructors' dynamic team in Saskatoon.

Reporting to the Labour Relations/Human Resources Manager, you will be responsible for the day to day operations relating to human resources and labour relations issues for the company throughout Saskatchewan.

More specifically, your duties will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Assist with the recruitment process including job postings, screening resumes and applicant testing;
  • Supporting HR/LR Manager with harassment investigations and human rights claims;
  • Maintaining an understanding of trade availability and anticipated shortfalls on a 3-4 month horizon;
  • Communicating union sponsored seminars and external or internal education sessions and facilitating training opportunities;
  • Coordinating apprenticeship enrolments and monitoring apprentice numbers;
  • Ensuring employee files are in good order and information is filed on a timely basis;
  • Producing bi-monthly reports regarding labour forecasts and recruitment strategies; and
  • Participating in the Client’s Safety Department to ensure worker compliance.

This role requires a minimum of five years experience in labour relations or senior management within an Industrial Construction and Building Trades Union environment.  A Diploma in Labour Relations Management or similar qualifications will be advantageous.

You will have the ability to interpret and understand several collective agreements.  In addition, you will have knowledge of Employment Standards, Occupational Health and Safety and Labour Codes.

If you are a confident individual with excellent communication, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills this is the job for you.  In this varied and challenging position, you will provide exceptional customer service to internal staff within a remotely managed environment.

Importantly, you will be highly skilled in the Microsoft Office suite, especially with Word, Excel and Access.  BFI Constructors is looking for a self-motivated candidate who has the ability to prioritize and organize a constant work flow.
