About the Opportunity

The Shire of Halls Creek has a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic Pool Supervisor to join the Recreation and Aquatics Centre at Halls Creek.

In this pivotal role, you will be assisting with the operation of the centre so as to provide an attractive, enjoyable, healthy and safe environment for the community and Council.

More specifically, some of you key responsibilities will include:

  • Supervising staff on duty to ensure necessary tasks are carried out;
  • Operating the filtration, disinfection and other equipment to ensure a healthy swimming environment;
  • Observing and supervising the patrons on the premises to ensure a safe and healthy environment;
  • Managing and supervising water testing procedures;
  • Ensuring all rules of good conduct are enforced including removing any misbehaving person/s from the premise;
  • Assisting with the training of new staff and the delivery of aquatics programs;
  • Carry out and supervise maintenance programs as required;
  • Performing all duties and responsibilities of a Pool Attendant/Lifeguard or Pool Assistant/Cashier; and
  • Carrying out First Aid and Lifesaving duties when necessary.

To be successful in this role, you will require a current Pool Lifeguard Certificate, Bronze Medallion Certificate and Senior First Aid Certificate. You will also require a current WA Pool Operator's Certificate, though if you possess a Certificate from elsewhere in Australia, the Centre will assist you in obtaining a qualification recognised in WA.

In addition, you will have a previous experience with the operation and maintenance of water treatment plants and water chemistry tests, along with a knowledge of safety procedures and requirements for handling hazardous chemicals used for water treatment. A knowledge of emergency procedures, workplace safety, first aid and resuscitation techniques is also essential.

The successful applicant will have experience in staff supervision, cash handling and banking procedures as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills to enable you to communicate effectively with Aboriginal people. You will have a flair for customer service in addition to good time management and organisational skills.

Due to the nature of this role, it is essential that you have an acceptable level of physical fitness to perform the required duties. You will also require the ability to operate and use computer equipment, with the willingness to learn the Council's electronic document management system.

Additional requirements include a current 'C' class driver's licence as well as Austswim qualifications and a current Working with Children check (or the ability to obtain both).
