Mental Health Professionals (FT, PT)
Job No:
21957
Location:
Griffith & Jerilderie/Berrigan/Finley/Tocumwal, NSW
About the Organisation
Murrumbidgee General Practice Network (MGPN) is an incorporated not-for-profit health promotion charity which provides a variety of primary health, including mental health services to approximately 62,000 rural residents. For over 15 years, MGPN has worked as an active member of the Australian General Practice Network and General Practice NSW to provide the highest level of care to patients living throughout rural NSW.
Having achieved and maintained its accreditation since 2006, MGPN runs a range of clinical and business support programs that are aimed to benefit and improve the health services currently available to patients in the western Riverina area of NSW.
More recently, the MGPN has achieved a number of important partnerships, including a Heads of Agreement with the Greater Southern Area Health Service as well as a Memorandum of Understanding with the Griffith Aboriginal Medical Service.
Why move to the Riverina region?
The Riverina is an agricultural region of south-western New South Wales, and with an ample supply of irrigation water, has become one of the most productive and agriculturally diverse areas of Australia. The City of Griffith and the large town Leeton are the third and fourth largest population centres in the Riverina, after only Wagga Wagga and Albury.
Situated between the large cities of Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide, the Riverina is a major NSW transportation hub. Higher education is offered by the Charles Sturt University, and a number of TAFE campuses throughout the region, while sport-lovers are well catered for with local sporting facilities for rugby league, rugby union, Australian Rules, bowls, cricket, netball, tennis and horse racing. Many of Australia's household sporting names have begun their careers in the Riverina, including Michael Slater, Mark Taylor, Laurie Daley, Peter Sterling, Paul Kelly, Wayne Carey and Evonne Goolagong Cawley. The region is also well represented culturally, from inspiring poems by Banjo Paterson and Henry Lawson, to being the origin of rock band Spiderbait.
