About the Organisation
NPA Family and Community Services ATSI Corporation (NPA) is a government funded, not for profit organisation situated in the scenic town of Bamaga at the very tip of Cape York Peninsula.
The organisation is focused on reducing the levels of family violence in the area, as well as improving the status and self-esteem of the community's indigenous residents. NPA also addresses social issues and problems of domestic and family violence, child abuse and child neglect, drug and alcohol abuse, youth suicide, youth crime, teenage pregnancy and family conflicts.
NPA is dedicated to proving support and encouragement to individuals to take control of their lives to develop their lifestyles into a positive outcome as well as acting as an advocate for women, children, men and family units.
Amongst NPA's services are two child care centres. Umagico child care centre is a new 29 place long day centre, with 8 staff. Injinoo child care centre is a 30 place long day care centre with 10 employees.

About the Opportunity
NPA Family and Community Services ATSI Corporation (NPA) currently has an exciting opportunity for a motivated Director for their Ama Lala Child Care Centre based in Bamaga.
In this diverse role, you will oversee the operations of the Child Care Centre to ensure a quality service is delivered to its clients. You will also be responsible for recruiting, training and supporting new staff.
Key responsibilities with this role include:
- Supervising the programs and the quality care provided at the Centre, including daily administration;
- Identifying and assisting delivery of in-service training needs of staff;
- Establishing and maintaining liaisons with other agencies in the community;
- Overseeing administrative matters, including monthly reporting, attending appropriate meetings and seminars and maintaining vital records;
- Participating in policy development for the organisation and establishing and maintain a high standard of professional competence in the Centre;
- Ensuring important Workplace Health & Safety standards are met; and
- Leading the Centre through the process of accreditation under the National Accreditation Strategy as required.
The successful candidate will have a relevant tertiary qualification in Early Childhood, Childcare or Teaching, or an Advanced Diploma of Children’s Services as well as demonstrated experience working as a Director in an Early Childhood setting, including knowledge of current relevant issues in the field of Early Childhood.
You will have experience in developing, implementing, maintaining and monitoring administrative and policy requirements in an Early Childhood setting. Your knowledge of the National Quality Framework 2012, Queensland Child Care Act 2001 and Child Care Regulations 2003 will be essential.
You must understand cultural differences and the need for effective, sensitive communication whilst maintaining authority. Tact and integrity are required as the director must establish trust amongst Centre users and staff. A demonstrated commitment to a high level of professional practice, ensuring quality of care is essential.
This position also requires eligibility for a Children's Commission Working with Children suitability blue card.
