We now have multiple rewarding opportunities available for After Hours Crisis Care Practitioners to join our team in Southwest VIC on a casual basis!

How You’ll Make a Difference:

As our next After Hours Crisis Care Practitioner, you’ll be joining a newly formed team of dedicated professionals who will provide crisis support to women who are experiencing family violence. You will provide support, predominantly over the phone, in shifts that take place between the hours of 5pm and 9am.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Responding in a timely manner to crisis ‘call-outs’ received during rostered shifts
  • Providing crisis intervention and emotional support to people who have experienced family violence and, if needed, to their supportive families and friends
  • Conducting initial risk assessments and, if necessary, providing safe accommodation, food, medical assistance, mental health support, and addressing other immediate needs 
  • Providing accurate information and facilitating access to medical and police support, emergency assistance and appropriate accommodation

What You’ll Bring to the Team:

To be considered for this role, you’ll need to hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or a related discipline, or have a willingness to upgrade from a Diploma of Community Services (Welfare Studies) to a degree qualification. 

You should also have prior demonstrated experience in a similar role that saw you providing support to victims of family violence, particularly immediate support in a crisis situation. 

Your highly developed interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, and self-awareness will see you in good stead to enjoy a rewarding career with Emma House.
