Our Mission:
For 25 years, KWILS has passionately served women and non-binary individuals in the Big Rivers Region (NT). We provide free civil legal advice, representation, and comprehensive support services, promoting gender equality and fighting violence against women. Our advocacy and community education efforts challenge harmful cultural practices and work towards meaningful legal and cultural changes.

How You’ll Make a Difference:
As the next Managing Solicitor at KWILS, you will play a pivotal role in championing justice and empowerment for women in our community. Your leadership will drive the provision of critical legal support, ensuring that women have a trusted partner to navigate complex legal challenges. By spearheading strategic initiatives, mentoring a dedicated team, and collaborating with stakeholders, you will directly contribute to securing women's rights, fostering gender equality, and breaking down barriers to accessing legal services.
Through your expertise, determination, and compassion, you will be at the forefront of positive change, making a lasting impact on the lives of women in our region.
Responsibilities will include:
- Managing and implementing service delivery, in line with funding specifications and the KWILS strategic plan
- Supervising and mentoring junior legal staff
- Overseeing and ensuring all legal work and data collection undertaken complies with relevant legislation and regulatory requirements
- Acting as the most senior legal figure within the organisation, and providing leadership for critical legal decisions and strategies, demonstrating unwavering expertise and leadership in all legal matters in your remit.

What You’ll Bring to the Team:
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Solicitor to take the next step in their career and start making a difference in the lives of women throughout the Big Rivers region! To be considered for this position, you will need a minimum of 5 years of post-admission experience as a Solicitor, as well as the demonstrated ability to supervise staff. You should also have some experience in civil litigation, legal advice, and casework.
To thrive in this role, and within the KWILS team more broadly, you should be passionate about social justice and have the ability to apply an intersectional lens to your practice. Your ability to work in a trauma-informed environment will also be critical to your continued success at KWILS.
