The Opportunity

We now have the opportunity for entry-level Upholsterers to join our Yandina-based workshop full-time and learn a new skill! You’ll be joining an experienced team, many of whom have been with BFX for many years. They’ll support you with on-the-job training to learn this trade, starting with ottomans and moving on to more complex furniture. With no experience needed, this role provides the opportunity to learn a new skill and be trained fully in an in-demand role.

Our Upholsterers and wider workshop team are close-knit and enjoy a friendly and fun work environment, as well as team BBQs and catching up at the pub after work.

As one of our upholsterers, you will work Monday - Thursday from 6am - 2pm, and Friday hours are 5am - 12:45pm. You’ll enjoy a great work-life balance with afternoons and weekends free! 

Core Responsibilities:

• Upholster commercial furniture
• Using commercial staplers and similar tools
• Assembling furniture items
• General factory work

Our friendly and collaborative team support each other to succeed and pride themselves on their attention to detail, and ability to create large orders of items that look identical. In BFX, and especially in our upholstery team, we understand and value that what we do matters. We’re creating furniture for schools that influence children’s learning environments, we love having this impact, and you will too.

About You

As our newest upholsterer, you will be good with your hands and have experience in a manual role like labouring or similar. We have opportunities for development and promotion, and as this is an entry-level role, you will be a keen learner looking to grow your career.

You will have:

• Experience working with power tools
• Strong experience in physical or trades roles like labouring, carpentry, or similar
• Passion and pride for a job well done
• Collaborative attitude
• High-level attention to detail 

Salary and Benefits 

When you join BFX as an upholsterer, you will receive an hourly rate circa $25-$35 (negotiable dependent on experience) PLUS super, penalty rates, and overtime!
