About the Organisation
Mabunji Aboriginal Resource Association Inc. was established in 1983 as a resource centre to service the Aboriginal peoples and their homelands of the Borroloola region.
The not-for-profit Aboriginal organisation serves Aboriginal communities and outstations, including 22 Traditional Homelands and four Town Camps in the Gulf Region of Australia's Northern Territory.
Primarily funded by grants, Mabunji Aboriginal Resource Association Inc. manages various programs including CDEP, Aboriginal housing, Community Harmony and Safety, Aged Care and Child Care facilities, Art and Language cultural centres and mechanical workshop.
About Life in Borroloola
Borroloola is known as the ‘Gateway to the Gulf’ and is situated in the South West region of the Gulf of Carpentaria.
Located on the McArthur River, approximately 280 kms west of the Queensland border, Borroloola is a gazetted town (not an Aboriginal community) with a population of around 2,500 including four main tribal groups known as the Mara, Yanuwa, Garrawa, Mara and Gurdanji.
Borroloola is the perfect place to escape the rat race or raise a family with the town offering most facilities including both a primary and high school, medical centre with visiting doctors, swimming pool, popular sports and a small airstrip for charters.
Locals enjoy living in the middle of barramundi area with popular pastimes including fishing, boating, camping, 4 Wheel Driving and visiting the islands in the gulf. The beautiful town attracts tourists taking advantage of King Ash Bay Fishing Club, only 45km north of Borroloola.

About the Opportunity
Mabunji Aboriginal Resource Association Inc. has an exciting opportunity for a Human Resource Manager to join their team in Borroloola.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, your role will be to ensure the efficient management of the association's human resources, including payroll, training and general HR duties.
More specifically, your key responsibilities will include (but will not be limited to):
- Coordinating staff contracts including salaried and executive;
- Developing and updating job descriptions and selection criteria;
- Developing and maintaining schedules for compliance with Police Checks, OCHRE Cards, First Aid Certificates and licences (incl. sea craft and Worksafe);
- Maintaining leave accruals register;
- Collating and processing timesheets, leave applications and medical certificates; and
- Preparing fortnightly salaries payroll.
A strong understanding of HR policy, especially in a management role is essential to succeed in this role. The successful candidate will also possess relevant qualifications and experience and demonstrate a high level of communication skills.
Understanding of Aboriginal Culture, including the ability to conduct oneself in a culturally appropriate manner, is important, as is an appreciation of the need to act as a positive role model.
Your self-motivation and initiative will be supported by a strong commitment to quality service provision. Additionally, you will be able to work both autonomously and as a committed member of the association's team, while operating under ethical work practices, accepting responsibility with honesty and integrity.
In return for your dedication you will be rewarded with an attractive salary package up to $80,000, depending on experience and qualifications, including 10% super and 5 weeks leave.
Relocation assistance up to $2,000 can also be negotiated.
You'll enjoy salary sacrifice of up to $13,000 to increase the value of your take home pay, a fully paid mobile phone, as well as subsidised electricity, telephone and housing in a furnished, two bedroom home.
Your travel costs for annual leave will also be provided with an annual flight after 12 months of service.
