MRC is seeking a passionate Remote Area Nurse to lead our Home Care Services Department in Alice Springs, NT.

You’ll enjoy a varied and autonomous role where you’re able to provide aged care services to elderly community members in their home. Travelling throughout Alice Springs and the surrounding communities, you’ll have the opportunity to make a profound impact on the health and well-being of individuals in remote areas. Your contributions will extend far beyond the typical healthcare setting, allowing you to shape and improve the lives of those you serve in meaningful ways.

In this role, you will visit patients in their homes and provide care, including remote care health assessments, primary care, check-ups, and support. You will work with families and carers to ensure patients are getting the care that they need.

You will collaborate with the Home Care Manager, Home Care Coordinators, Allied Health, and community networks, including liaising with ACAT referrals, to ensure a high level of multidisciplinary care for all clients. You will support our home care staff to provide the highest level of care possible.

Travelling anywhere from overnight to two weeks, you will have the opportunity to really be part of the communities you work with, and see how you can support their wellbeing.

About You

Your dedication to closing the gap in Indigenous healthcare will be pivotal to your success in this role, regardless of prior experience in aged care.

Key qualifications and skills include:

  • A minimum Bachelor’s of Nursing or higher
  • Current AHPRA registration 
  • Aged Care experience heavily preferred
  • Understanding of aged care and disability client needs
  • Experience training/mentoring non-clinical staff
  • Experience working with diverse cultures
  • Valid driver's licence

Most importantly, you will be willing and able to travel regularly to remote communities to provide support and care.

A current first aid certificate and experience living and working with Aboriginal communities are preferred for this role.

Two or three-week rosters are an opportunity for the right candidate.
