- Use your Executive Assistant skills to make a difference in our community!
Who We Are:
Yipirinya School is one of only a few Independent Aboriginal Community Driven Schools in Australia. It was founded by Indigenous Elders in Alice Springs and remains under the control of a 100% Aboriginal Board. The only school in Australia that teaches four Aboriginal languages alongside English, Yipirinya School has a unique history and is at the cutting edge of Aboriginal Two-Way Education.
We provide a culturally safe and culturally informed education, and due to the popularity of our school, we have tripled in size in the last two years.
With approximately 300 students and 100 staff, we now have an exciting opportunity for an Executive Assistant to join our school and support our Principal.
Your Next Opportunity:
Reporting to the School Principal, you will provide executive support in scheduling, coordinating, and assisting with projects. As our school is an important part of our community, our Principal is regularly involved in events and meetings with local, and state government, funding bodies and Not-for-Profits, and you will be part of these as well.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Organising the Principal and other senior staff calendars
- Screening the Principal's phone calls and emails, and dealing with the queries where appropriate;
- Engaging with and coordinating stakeholders, including the board, parents, and wider community members;
- Working on projects alongside the Principal and providing strategic advice;
- Representing Yipirinya alongside the principal at community events, and high-level external engagements; and
- Occasionally drafting and sending out communications to staff and parents.
What You Will Bring to the Team:
As our Executive Assistant, you will be a skilled and experienced executive assistant, with high attention to detail. You will also be able to collaborate well and build relationships with internal staff and external stakeholders.
Experience working with Aboriginal people will be highly regarded, though this is not essential as long as you have the ability to act in a culturally sensitive manner. Your personal presentation and networking skills will be important in this role, as you will have the opportunity to attend high-level professional and community events.
You will have:
- Minimum 3+ years in a role as executive assistant to the CEO or Principal
- High-level communication skills
- Effective personal scheduling and coordination
- Strong change management and project coordination skills
- Experience working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander organisations is preferred
You will need to have a Working With Children's Check (OCHRE Card), First Aid Certificate, and Driver's License, or have the ability to obtain these before commencing.
The Benefits:
In addition to a competitive salary of circa $80,000 – $100,000 per annum + superannuation, you will receive a range of benefits from Yipirinya School, including:
- Relocation assistance up to $8,000 to help you make Alice Springs your new home
- Salary packaging opportunities up to $15,900 to increase your take-home pay
- Accommodation assistance to make your move easier
- Flexibility and a great working environment
