Puntukurnu Aboriginal Medical Service (PAMS) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service, situated in the stunning East Pilbara region, we provide culturally sensitive healthcare services in remote Aboriginal communities. Since our beginnings in Jigalong in 1994, we've expanded to provide care for communities across our region and now have over 100 staff. Our main clinic is based in Newman, just 2.5 hours from Jigalong.

Have the opportunity to join us and help support and promote this vision within our organisation as our full-time People and Culture (P&C) Manager based in Newman, WA.
The Opportunity
As our People & Culture Manager, you will ensure the smooth running of our P&C functions and focus on our staff's rights and wellbeing. Leading a team of three, you will report to our Director of Corporate Services.
You will focus on employment law and rights in this role, as well as ensuring effective P&C policies and procedures are upheld and maintained. As we are an AMS and service Aboriginal communities, you will help ensure all staff understand the importance of culturally safe practice, and uphold this at all times.
This is a dynamic and varied role, as we provide healthcare for remote Aboriginal Communities, no two days will be the same.
Ensuring employee wellbeing and promoting a fun culture within PAMS will be part of your role, and you will work alongside other teams and leaders to maintain this.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure all policies, procedures, and agreements are up-to-date with accurate employment and industrial laws and regulations;
- Lead and develop a team of P&C professionals;
- Onboard and offboard employees, as well as overseeing leave approval;
- Oversee and promote OH&S policies and practices;
- Work alongside other managers to ensure the effective running of PAMS; and
- Promote wellbeing and company culture.
Some travel to our other remote area clinics may be required.

Newman is a town in the Pilbara, serving as a gateway to Karijini National Park and Mount Whaleback Mine. Located 1,184kms North-East of Perth, it offers easy access to natural wonders and tours of the world's largest open-cut iron ore mine. The Remuneration and Benefits
When you join PAMS, you will earn a generous salary circa $110,000 - $136,000, negotiable dependent on skills and experience, plus super and great benefits.
Benefits include:
- Relocation assistance up to $2,500 to help you make Newman your home
- Salary sacrificing up to $15,900 annually to help increase your take-home pay
- 6 weeks annual leave with 17.5% leave loading
- Two paid flights (return) to Perth (or original location of residence) per year;
- $5,000 retention bonus at the end of your third year with us, and annually thereafter

About You
As our P&C Manager, you will be experienced in HR, particularly industrial and employment relations, and have experience leading teams. You will have strong people management skills, and the ability to work well and build relationships with people from varying backgrounds.
Your strong understanding of the importance of culture in our community and in PAMS’s operations will be important, as is the value you place on cultural knowledge and practices. Not afraid to ask questions, you will be eager to learn and develop with PAMS to help maintain and add to our company culture.
You will have:
- Experience in a senior HR role
- Experience in managing teams
- Strong communication skills
- Cultural understanding
- Comprehensive understanding of industrial and employee relations
- Experience living and working in remote Aboriginal communities is preferred
- A relevant tertiary degree in Human Resources, Business, or similar is an advantage
