RUC Cementation Mining Contractors (RUCC) is a Western Australian based Underground Mining contractor specialising in all underground contracting including jumbo development, production mining, airleg development and production, conventional shaft sinking, raise drilling and civil works.

RUCC specialises in Raise Boring, Shaft Sinking and Underground Development, with the highest regard for safety and environmental issues. The company has seen very strong growth in its shaft sinking business, with current projects in Australia and Hong Kong controlled from its Perth office.

About the Opportunity

Due to expansion of activity, RUC Cementation Mining Contractors has a rare opportunity for an Underground Mining Engineer to join their team based in Perth.

Reporting to the Project Manager Shaft and Civil Operations, you will be involved in all aspects of the company's Shaft Sinking projects, from hands-on work to site management and shaft engineering.

As a key member of the Shaft Sinking team, your core duties will include:

  • Day to day management and cost accounting of shaft sinking operations;
  • Producing submissions to the Mines Department for approval of sinking operations;
  • Carrying out feasibility work on shaft sinking, equipping and operation;
  • Tendering on new shaft sinking jobs;
  • Frequent trips to site; and
  • Working primarily on a 5:2 roster, but with frequent trips to site with longer rosters being required if necessary.

To achieve in this vital role, you will be a tertiary qualified Mining, Mechanical or Civil Engineer with experience in the underground mining environment. You'll be a driven candidate with a work history demonstrating your desire to excel in a technically challenging, specialised role. It is desirable, though not essential, to hold an Underground Shift Supervisors Ticket of Competency, though this training can be provided to the right candidate.

RUCC is seeking a professional applicant with excellent communication skills and the proven know-how to work within a results-driven environment. You'll have extensive experience using Microsoft Scheduler and Excel, and will have the demonstrated ability to influence others, set out structured work plans and meet project time lines and budgets.
