About the Opportunity

Tiwi College is seeking a dedicated full-time Business Manager, who will be based in our Darwin, NT office. 

This pivotal role requires a professional who embodies Tiwi Education Board’s vision and mission, demonstrating commitment through actions both professionally and personally.

The Business Manager, in collaboration with Tiwi College's Principal and Operations Manager, is essential for managing finances and ensuring the College's operational compliance.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Overseeing financial reporting and budget management, including monthly and annual reports
  • Liaising with the Accounting Team for financial analysis, risk assessment, and compliance
  • Developing financial policies and ensuring adherence to legislation and governance standards
  • Managing College funds, including cash flow, investments, and negotiations with financial institutions
  • Maintaining accurate records for government funding, insurance, and asset management
  • Collaborating in risk management strategies and overseeing infrastructure maintenance
  • Supervising employment matters, including staff remuneration and industrial relations
  • Preparing and driving grant applications for fundraising initiatives
  • Regular travel to the College for direct engagement and oversight, as needed

About You

To qualify, you will need strong leadership experience, demonstrating your ability to guide teams and projects effectively.

Additionally, a solid background in accounting or finance is crucial, whether it's through tertiary education or proven years of experience. Cultural sensitivity is key, as you will be closely collaborating with a community that has distinct needs, necessitating an appreciation and respect for its unique cultural landscape.

Moreover, as a relationship manager, you should be adept at fostering and maintaining strong connections, both within and outside the organisation. Thorough understanding of financial legislation and compliance related to educational institutions is essential.

Some travel to and from the College to provide on-the-ground support may be required from time-to-time.

While not required, the following qualifications would greatly enhance your candidacy:

  • Experience in grant writing and fundraising initiatives
  • A business qualification, complementing your financial expertise
