New Britain Palm Oil now has the exciting opportunity for multiple full-time Primary School Teachers to join us in Mosa, Kimbe - West New Britain, PNG ensuring educational standards remain high.

About the Opportunity

This role, reporting directly to the School Principal, is accountable for delivering high-quality education based on the Australian curriculum. You'll ensure that all students are supervised in a safe learning environment that meets the approved curricula and mission of the school. Some of the key duties of the role will be:

  • Establish and promote high standards and expectations for all students and staff for academic performance and responsibility for behaviour;
  • Effectively deliver the Australian Curriculum and enhance the academic skills and knowledge of students;
  • Prepare programs effectively and provide support to National staff preparing programs as required;
  • Take responsibility for the well-being of students;
  • Communicate with parents/guardians on students' progress; and
  • Add something of value and enjoyment to our school and community – eg., music, dance, drama, sport, etc.

Work hours are from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm, with classes running from 8:00 am to 2:30 pm. This schedule provides ample time for programming and planning both before and after classes, ensuring that you can fully prepare for each day's lessons. This structured timetable is ideal for maintaining a healthy work-life balance, allowing for personal time in the evenings.

This position comes with a 3-year minimum contract, subject to a 6-month probation period, ensuring a stable and rewarding tenure for the right candidate.

About You

To qualify, you will need internationally recognised teaching qualifications, a current and valid Australian teaching registration and demonstrated prior experience as a Teacher in a primary school. A minimum of 3 years of experience working full-time at an Australian or International School, along with a passion for fostering a supportive and dynamic learning environment, will also be essential.

The following skills and background will be highly valued:

  • M.Ed Leadership (highly desired but not essential) and/or Bachelor of Education
  • Sound to excellent understanding of the Australian Curriculum
  • Extensive knowledge of programming and assessment practices at an international standard
  • Must demonstrate exceptional written and oral language
  • Foundation - Year 2 or Year 5 / 6 teaching experience (highly desired but not essential)
  • Cultural sensitivity and good social skills
  • Ability to engage children and parents from a wide range of backgrounds

Additionally, you must possess, or have the ability to obtain, the following:

  • Current Working with Children Clearance
  • Current Criminal History Check
  • Covid-19 vaccination
