We now have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Transport Workshop Foreman to become a key part of our team in Bulolo, PNG.

What you'll do

As a pivotal support to the Transport Workshop Manager, your role will be to lead, plan, and implement service and maintenance programs, ensuring operational excellence and efficiency. 

You will play a crucial role in managing the day-to-day priorities, coordinating procurement, and addressing urgent breakdowns with agility and expertise. Your leadership will guide a dedicated team towards achieving high standards of service and maintenance.

Your key duties will include (but will not be limited to):

• Assisting in managing and overseeing the workshop management system
• Developing and implementing maintenance and service programs
• Responding to and managing breakdowns efficiently
• Coordinating procurement and supplies for workshop needs
• Communicating and liaising with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the delivery of services
• Monitoring and controlling workshop expenses and budget
• Other duties as directed by the Transport Workshop Manager

What we need from you

To qualify, you will need a mechanical trade qualification. Significant experience in earthmoving and heavy haulage equipment maintenance, ideally related to the forestry and hydro industries, will also be essential.

Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

• Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills, gained through extensive managerial-level experience, ideally spanning 5 to 10 years
• Hands-on experience with heavy machinery, including dozers, graders, skidders, excavators, loaders
• Proven ability in developing and implementing maintenance and service programs
• Experience in managing priorities on a day-to-day basis
• Have strong computer literacy in Microsoft Excel and Word
• Ability to effectively communicate with individuals at all levels and from a variety of backgrounds

As our ideal candidate, you will possess strong problem-solving skills and excellent communication skills that will make you succeed in this role, as well as a strong work ethic and a hands-on approach that will make you a perfect cultural fit. You should also be culturally sensitive and able to mentor others in a disciplined and professional manner.

This is a pivotal role that requires not just technical expertise but also the ability to lead by example and drive operational excellence within our team. We are looking for a candidate who is ready to take on the challenge of maintaining our fleet to the highest standards and contributing to the ongoing success of PNG Forest Products.

Please note: Candidates must be vaccinated against Covid-19, possess a manual driver's license, and be prepared to provide passport details for work permit processing. Your passport should have a validity of at least 2-3 years.
