About Your Next Opportunity

Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and repairing a wide variety of Council vehicles and machinery, from light to heavy equipment, ensuring they are operational and reliable.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Performing scheduled maintenance and emergency repairs on a variety of vehicles and equipment
  • Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults in diesel engines and components
  • Undertaking welding and fabrication tasks as required
  • Maintaining accurate records of maintenance and repair work
  • Ensuring all tasks are performed in compliance with safety standards
  • Assisting in the management and training of apprentices

What you will bring to the team

To qualify, you will be a Mechanic/Fitter, holding a Mechanical Trade Qualification and a current ‘C’ class driver’s license, or ability to obtain.

Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

  • Further certificate qualifications or relevant experience
  • Experience with vehicle and plant maintenance
  • Proficiency in welding and fabrication
  • Competency in mechanical diagnostics
  • Ability to maintain accurate service operation records
  • Flexibility to travel as needed, ensuring the entire Etheridge Shire region benefits from our services
