About Nuriootpa

Nuriootpa is the major commercial centre in the Barossa Valley in South Australia, about an hour's drive north of the capital, Adelaide. The name of the town is reputed to be the local Aboriginal word for "meeting place".

Nuriootpa is situated at the north end of the Barossa Valley, near the Sturt Highway. The Barossa Valley has a population of almost 20,000 people, with Nurioopta the largest town in the area. It is a picturesque town, with grape vines growing on some of the buildings in the main streets, and vineyards surrounding the town.

About the Opportunity

Nuriootpa Foodland now has an exciting opportunity for a Customer Service Manager to join their friendly team in Nuriootpa in the Barossa Valley. 

In this role, the successful candidate will be managing a team of 70 casuals and permanents, and will be responsible for the profitable management of the department in line with company policies, procedures and philosophies. This will involve performing a wide variety of duties to direct, control and co-ordinate customer service, staff development and administration.

More specifically, your duties will include (but not be limited to):

  • Ensuring the delivery of a high level of customer service by ensuring that service standards are maintained and acting on customer requests and suggestions;
  • Setting productivity and accuracy targets in conjunction with the Store Manager and coaching the team to achieve them;
  • Effectively managing stock expenditure within guidelines;
  • Effectively managing wage expenses whilst ensuring service standards and legislative requirements are met;
  • Ensuring payment transactions are completed accurately and takings are reconciled following company procedure;
  • Researching and selecting product ranges to meet customer expectations and controlling stock by monitoring stock levels and placing orders as appropriate;
  • Manage customer feedback, resolving complaints to the satisfaction of the customer and business;
  • Recruiting and inducting new employees thoroughly and effectively so that they quickly become effective team members; and
  • Appraising staff performance utilising the performance review system, ensuring performance reviews are conducted for probationary and annual reviews.

The successful candidate will have proven experience in managing a front-line customer service team, preferably with previous experience in supermarket customer service management.

As you will be managing a team of 70, you will need proven people management skills. You will be working across all teams within the store, and as such will also need highly developed interpersonal skills to achieve positive results.

In addition, you will possess exceptional communication and customer service skills, with the demonstrated ability to effectively handle front-line customer requests.

The successful candidate will receive a generous salary circa $47,000 - $52,000 plus super and great benefits, including relocation assistance negotiable for the right candidate!
