How You’ll Make a Difference

Sunrise is now looking for a full-time Tuberculosis Coordinator based in Katherine and/or in community, NT. 

This role is dedicated to increasing the uptake of tuberculosis immunisations and vaccines, reports directly to the outreach coordinator, and is responsible for embedding the role within the clinic's outreach and community engagement activities.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Increasing tuberculosis immunisation and vaccine uptake
  • Embedding and defining the role's scope within the clinic's operations
  • Engaging with the community through outreach activities
  • Working closely with the outreach coordinator to plan and execute health campaigns
  • Fostering partnerships with local community groups to promote health initiatives
  • Developing strategies to enhance community health and wellness
  • Facilitating educational sessions on tuberculosis prevention and care
  • Supporting the clinic's overall health promotion and disease prevention efforts

What You’ll Bring to the Team

To qualify, you will need to be a Nurse or Aboriginal Health Practitioner. Previous experience in a remote or Aboriginal Health setting will also be considered essential.

Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

  • Experience in public health initiatives
  • Knowledge of tuberculosis and its prevention
  • Strong community engagement and outreach capabilities
  • Ability to develop and implement health promotion strategies
  • Familiarity with health education techniques

Your proactive approach to health education and your commitment to improving community health outcomes will make you a perfect fit for this role.

About the Big Rivers Region

The Big Rivers region (a 3 hour drive from Darwin) begins south of Kakadu National Park encompassing Pine Creek, then extends over 500km south to Kalkaringi and stretches across the width of the Territory between the Western Australia and Queensland borders. The region is significant in scale, covering over 360,000 square kilometres and accounting for an area greater than that covered by Germany. The region consists of a number of varied natural environments including vast rivers, tropical forests, rocky escarpments and savannah plains.
