The Opportunity

We are now looking for a full-time CNC Machine Shop Supervisor based in our state-of-the-art Machine Shop in Gladstone, QLD. 

This pivotal role, reporting directly to the Machine Shop Manager and the General Manager, is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the day-to-day operations of the Machine Shop to ensure maximum productivity and efficiency.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Developing detailed work lists for shift transitions to ensure seamless operations
  • Assisting in training personnel and apprentices, empowering them to perform their duties
  • Conducting descriptive production, safety, environmental, and quality toolbox meetings
  • Ensuring all materials and tooling are organised for shifts
  • Planning and directing the operations of the Machine Shop to improve performance and profitability
  • Implementing and managing operational plans and quality objectives
  • Providing leadership for day-to-day operations and monitoring compliance with legislative requirements
  • Supporting continuous improvement processes and quality improvement activities within the Machine Shop

What We Need From You

The successful candidate will be a qualified Fitter & Machinist with at least 5 years experience in CNC machining on multi-axis machines and also have manual machine experience.

Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

  • Working knowledge of organisational effectiveness and operations management
  • Competency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel
  • Familiarity with Occupational Safety and Health & Environmental principles
  • Understanding of quality principles within a medium-sized service delivery operation
  • Demonstrated stability of performance under pressure

Your ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision, demonstrating initiative for priority setting, goal achievement, and time management will be critical. Conflict resolution skills, the ability to manage change effectively, and contribute to the public relations of the Company will make you an ideal candidate.
