Birrana Engineering Pty Ltd is a successful Australian company supplying innovative products and services for mobile mining equipment throughout Australia and overseas. For over 20 years, Birrana has been designing, developing, manufacturing, and rebuilding driveline components and parts, particularly to suit final drive wheelgroups for large mining dump trucks.
Birrana is a part of the H-E Parts International group of companies, and has relationships with several component and service suppliers working with mining company's throughout the world. These relationships mean Birrana frequently introduces new products to the business and the mobile mining equipment market in Australia.
About the Opportunity
Due to ongoing business growth, Birrana Engineering is seeking a Business Development Manager with a mechanical background to join its team in Perth.
In this pivotal role, your primary focus will be developing business opportunities with potential new customers and providing support to existing customers. Your customer base will be open cut mining companies and mining contractors with heavy earth moving dump trucks throughout key mining regions in WA, making this role suitable for someone with a strong sales background in the resources sector.
The successful applicant will report directly to the Branch Manager in Perth.
Some of your specific responsibilities will include:
- Growing the existing WA customer base to agreed targets;
- Communicating regularly with customers to identify future trends, requirements and ensure potential issues are resolved;
- Overseeing and assisting in marketing and sales programs;
- Quoting rebuild work in line with customer expectations and Birrana re-usability standards;
- Contributing to the formation of annual budgets;
- Ensuring marketing data base is maintained at all times; and
- Negotiating prices and contracts with customers so as to create "win-win" outcomes.
You must have the flexibility to perform periodical site visits throughout WA, with occasional 2-5 day intra/interstate trips.
To be successful in this role, you will have a strong mechanical background in engineering or heavy equipment maintenance within the mining / resources sector, and well developed sales management experience. A Mechanical Fitter or Mechanical Engineer with business, sales or product management experience would be an ideal fit.
You must be a self-motivated and highly driven sales professional with a passion for customer service and well developed communication and negotiation skills. Strong computer skills in MS Excel, Word and Outlook will be required, and experience with SalesForce will be an advantage. If you are motivated by helping customers solve problems and achieving targets (particularly in sales and profitability), this could be the role for you.
