About the Opportunity

Bourke & District Children’s Services (BDCS) is looking for a full-time Indigenous Employment Strategy Coordinator based in Bourke, NSW.

The role involves developing, implementing, and evaluating the Indigenous Employment Strategy (IES) and reports to the General Manager.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Implementing and managing the BDCS IES in collaboration with key stakeholders
  • Identifying and addressing barriers to Indigenous employment
  • Building relationships with external stakeholders to share knowledge and best practices
  • Providing advice and support on Indigenous employment issues
  • Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of the IES
  • Maintaining accurate records and providing regular reports on the strategy's progress

About You

To qualify, you will need a deep understanding and appreciation of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and values, and strong project management skills. Previous experience in a similar role with a proven track record of developing and implementing successful Indigenous employment strategies is highly desirable.

This role may also suit someone with a background in Human Resources or Case Management.

Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and programs related to Indigenous employment and workforce development
  • Experience in Early Childhood education services
  • An understanding of the Bourke region and the local Indigenous community

As our ideal candidate, you will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and the flexibility to work outside of normal business hours. Your ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders will ensure you succeed in this role.

This is a pivotal role that will have a significant impact on Indigenous employment within BDCS, contributing to a more inclusive and supportive workplace. We are looking for a dedicated individual who is passionate about fostering Indigenous employment and making a difference in the community.

The ability to obtain a Working With Children Check (WWCC) and police check is essential.
