About the opportunity

Are you passionate about creating engaging, user-centric content and excel at translating complex technical information into clear, accessible documentation? Join our dynamic team as a Technical Writer at our head office in Milton, Brisbane. This is a contract position of approximately 10 hours per week for 6-8 weeks, with potential for extension based on project needs.

As the successful candidate, you will ensure our users fully understand the features and capabilities of our software products by developing high-quality documentation and educational content. Your work will enhance the user experience by helping our clients navigate our software applications with ease.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Documentation Creation: Develop clear, concise, and comprehensive documentation for clients and internal teams, including user guides, FAQs, troubleshooting documents, and onboarding materials. 
• Content Strategy: Assist in shaping and executing a content strategy that meets the needs of our users and supports our business objectives.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with development and client success teams to understand the platform's behavior and translate technical details into user-friendly content.
• Educational Content: Create engaging educational content such as tutorials, how-to guides, and training materials to help users get the most out of our software. Design diagrams, charts, and other visual aids to complement the written content.
• Technical Writing: Simplify complex technical information to make it accessible to a non-technical audience.
• Webinars and Videos: Develop and deliver webinars and video content to educate users about our software’s features and best practices.
• Content Maintenance: Regularly update and maintain existing documentation to ensure accuracy and relevance.
• User-Centric Approach: Focus on the needs of our users to ensure that all content is clear, relevant, and helpful.

Additional responsibilities may include:

• Research, plan, and develop new training documentation based on customer needs.
• Develop comprehensive work breakdown structures and realistic estimates for product documentation deliverables.
• Coordinate and collaborate with the Development team and other technical resources to translate software concepts into clear and concise training documentation.
• Identify changes during development phases and update documentation as required.
• Prepare documentation for distribution across a variety of media.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

• Proven experience as a Technical Writer, preferably in the software or tech industry.
• Strong understanding of software development processes and technical concepts.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to explain complex technical information in a clear and concise manner.
• Experience working with development teams and understanding technical documentation needs.
• Familiarity with content management systems and documentation tools.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to multi-task and stay calm under pressure.
