About the Opportunity

The Friendlies Private Hospital is seeking full-time Pharmacists to join their team in Bundaberg, QLD.These roles report directly to the Pharmacy Manager and involve a unique blend of community pharmacy experience and hospital pharmacy duties. The successful candidates will be responsible for ensuring accurate medication management, providing patient counselling, and working closely with the healthcare team to deliver comprehensive pharmaceutical care.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Dispensing medications and providing patient counselling in the on-site retail pharmacy
  • Undertaking best possible medication history (BPMH) within 48 hours of patient admission
  • Advising patients and healthcare professionals on medication selection, dosage, and drug interactions
  • Participating in medication reconciliation on patient discharge
  • Conducting medication reviews and contributing to Antimicrobial Stewardship
  • Overseeing the work of pharmacy technicians and providing leadership in clinical settings
  • Collaborating with the healthcare team to enhance patient care and safety
  • Involvement in quality improvement initiatives and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards

About You

You are a qualified pharmacist with a Bachelor of Pharmacy (or equivalent) and current AHPRA registration. With at least 1 year of experience in a similar role, you excel in managing patient consultations and offering expert guidance on medication management.

Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • High level of computer literacy, including experience with dispensary software (e.g., FRED)
  • Ability to embody and apply The Friendlies' values in the workplace
  • Hospital pharmacy experience is desirable but not mandatory
  • Leadership capabilities for those interested in clinical management roles
