The Opportunity

We are looking for a full-time Print Machinist working five days per week based in Mayfield West, NSW, a suburb of Newcastle, NSW. 

Reporting to the Production Manager, this role is responsible for operating and maintaining the SX52 and Heidelberg cylinder machines while ensuring high-quality production outcomes.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Operating and maintaining the SX52 machine, including the Stenz Envelope Feeder
  • Operating and maintaining the Heidelberg Cylinder machines
  • Mixing PMS colours as required
  • Preparing jobs by checking proofs, previous samples, and Pantone charts
  • Maintaining and managing the knife forme library and arranging reruling when needed
  • Assisting with other production tasks, including binding and finishing to meet production deadlines
  • Liaising with the Production Manager and team to achieve print job outcomes
  • Setting priorities to meet job delivery deadlines
  • Recommending, communicating, and maintaining standards, procedures, and policies
  • Ensuring general housekeeping by keeping the production floor and machines clean and tidy
  • Following safe practices to prevent injuries and accidents

What You Need

To qualify, you will need strong organisational and time management skills, along with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in the printing or production industry. Experience in operating and maintaining the SX52 and Heidelberg cylinder machines will also be essential.

Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

  • Experience in mixing PMS colours
  • Proficiency in preparing jobs using proofs, samples, and Pantone charts
  • Familiarity with maintaining a knife forme library
  • Ability to manage and set priorities to meet tight deadlines
  • A commitment to following safe work practices
