About the Opportunity

The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder is seeking a full-time Coordinator Compliance to join our Development and Community Directorate, based in Kalgoorlie-Boulder, WA.

Reporting to the Manager Health & Compliance, this role is responsible for leading a growing compliance team and driving initiatives in environmental health, development compliance, and enforcement activities. You will oversee day-to-day operations while contributing to medium- and long-term strategic planning.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing leadership and motivation to the Compliance Team to ensure exceptional service delivery.
  • Coordinating and managing compliance activities while ensuring legislative and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Overseeing the development, implementation, and review of compliance policies, procedures, and systems.
  • Liaising with internal departments, external stakeholders, and legal advisors on compliance matters.
  • Preparing and managing the department’s budget in consultation with the Manager.
  • Monitoring compliance actions, court proceedings, and enforcement activities.

About You

We are seeking an experienced and proactive professional with strong leadership and management skills, ideally with a background in local government compliance or enforcement. You will excel in building high-performing teams, driving process improvements, and ensuring legislative compliance.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Formal qualifications or significant experience in managing and supervising employees.
  • A minimum of five (5) years experience in a senior compliance and/or law enforcement role.
  • Demonstrated experience in interpreting and enforcing environmental health laws, local laws, and legislation.
  • Experience managing departmental budgets and providing professional advice on compliance matters.
  • Exceptional written, and verbal communication, and negotiation skills.
  • A customer service focus with the ability to resolve conflicts effectively.
  • Local government experience is highly regarded.
