About the Opportunity
The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder is looking for a full-time Coordinator Ranger Services based in Kalgoorlie-Boulder, WA.
This leadership role reports to the Manager of Health & Community Safety and is responsible for managing ranger operations, ensuring compliance with local laws, and leading a motivated ranger team in delivering excellent community services.
More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Managing day-to-day operations of Ranger and Administration Staff
- Implementing and maintaining up-to-date operational procedures
- Ensuring compliance with the Corporate Firearm Licence
- Preparing budgets and overseeing administrative resources
- Responding to public enquiries and complaints in a timely, professional manner
- Overseeing animal management facility operations
- Providing advice on legislation and local laws
- Leading enforcement of City’s Local Laws and preparing for prosecutions
- Reviewing standard operating procedures and local laws
- Ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of ranger reporting and investigations

About You
To qualify, you will need a minimum of 5 years’ ranger-specific experience, and demonstrated experience in leading teams within a regulatory or law enforcement context. Local Government experience is highly desirable.
Additionally, the following qualifications and skills will be highly valued:
- Formal qualifications or equivalent experience in supervising or managing staff
- Regulatory Officer Compliance Skills 1 & 2 (ROCS) or similar
- Experience interpreting and enforcing Local Laws and related legislation
- Previous experience managing budgets in a government or ranger services context
- Firearms handling and licensing experience
- Strong animal handling capability
- Excellent interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills
- Strong written communication and public service ethics
- Senior First Aid certification
