About the Opportunity

The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder is looking for a full-time Manager Airport based at Kalgoorlie-Boulder Airport, WA.

Reporting to the Director Corporate & Commercial, this critical leadership role is responsible for the safe, compliant, and efficient management of airport operations in line with national regulations and local government priorities.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Managing the overall operational control of Kalgoorlie-Boulder Airport
  • Developing and maintaining emergency and security plans as per Air Navigation Act and Civil Aviation Regulations
  • Conducting inspections of Obstacle Limitation Surfaces and initiating remediation
  • Overseeing aerodrome technical inspections per Civil Aviation Safety Regulations
  • Leading airport teams with a focus on safety, performance, and compliance
  • Managing security screening for passengers and baggage
  • Budget preparation, management, and reporting
  • Engaging key stakeholders and contributing to airport-related projects

About You

To qualify, you will need tertiary qualifications in aviation operations or substantial demonstrated experience in managing major regional or capital city airport operations. Experience in aviation or airport regulatory/compliance is essential.

The following certifications are also required:

  • Aviation Lead Auditor Qualification
  • Aviation Investigation Qualification
  • Radiotelephony Licence
  • Eligibility for an AusCheck ASIC
  • WA “C” Class driver’s licence
  • Current National Police Clearance

The following skills and qualifications are desirable and highly valued:

  • Certificate IV in Training & Assessment
  • Reporting Officer/Works Safety Officer Certificate
  • Stakeholder engagement and team leadership experience
  • Budget and financial reporting expertise
  • Strong connections with other airports and airlines, including experience liaising with major carrier

You will be comfortable managing multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously, while also contributing to the City's broader strategic direction and fulfilling corporate reporting requirements. You’ll bring a solutions-focused mindset, strong independent working capabilities, and the readiness to step into a high-pressure, high-responsibility environment. A thick skin and ability to see the “big picture” from a local government perspective are essential.
