About the Opportunity

Centacare North Queensland is seeking a part-time Practice Supervisor based in Townsville, QLD with some flexibility in FTE depending on your experience and availability, with monthly travel to Mount Isa and other outreach locations, as needed. Reporting to the Executive Director, this senior position plays a key role in developing staff, guiding best practices, and supporting service quality across the organisation.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Providing monthly clinical, technical, and practical supervision to staff below the manager level
  • Delivering internal and external training programs (online and in person)
  • Supporting early-career practitioners with ethical practice and self-care strategies
  • Identifying and escalating emerging themes to leadership for organisational response
  • Leading by example with professional boundaries and values-aligned conduct
  • Maintaining detailed records, contributing to audits, and shaping continuous improvement
  • Collaborating with HR and Program Managers on development and performance plans
  • Providing surge support, including critical incident debriefing as needed

About You

To be successful, you’ll need a tertiary qualification in Psychology or Social Work and extensive experience providing supervision in a social or community service setting.

In addition, the following will be highly regarded:

  • Strong leadership and team development experience
  • Proven ability to manage complex ethical and therapeutic discussions
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and collaboration skills
  • Demonstrated confidence with technology and remote service delivery
  • A calm, boundary-setting leadership style aligned with Centacare’s values
  • Ability to work independently and travel monthly to regional locations

You must hold or be eligible to obtain:

  • A current open driver’s licence
  • A current Working with Children Blue Card and Disability Services Clearance
