Ready to Drive Real Change in Civil Infrastructure?

Tenterfield Shire Council is looking for a full-time Plant Operator based in Tenterfield, NSW. The position plays a key role in delivering high-quality road construction and maintenance across the Council area.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Operating and maintaining Council Water Carts and other road plant and machinery
  • Assisting with road construction, maintenance and general labouring tasks
  • Performing daily user maintenance checks of equipment, including small plant
  • Installing road signs, guideposts, and erosion control measures
  • Conducting traffic control as required
  • Maintaining accurate records using tablet/iPad systems
  • Communicating effectively with the public and internal teams
  • Ensuring all work is completed efficiently, safely, and to a high standard

Is This You?

To qualify, you will need a Certificate II in Civil Construction (or equivalent) and a Heavy Rigid (HR) Licence. A minimum of 2 years experience in road construction and maintenance operations is strongly preferred. 

Additionally, the following skills, background and checks will be highly valued:

  • Certificate III in Civil Construction (or willingness to obtain – support provided)
  • Safework NSW Traffic Controller qualification
  • General Construction (White) Card
  • Certificate of Competency for the type of plant to be operated
  • First Aid Certificate

As our ideal candidate, you will bring reliability, strong time management skills, and the ability to work safely and effectively as part of a team. Your sound communication and record-keeping abilities will ensure smooth operations on-site and with stakeholders
