About the Opportunity
Earth Data has an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic Graduate and Experienced Geologists to join their Operations team in Eagle Farm, Brisbane.
The primary function of this role is to carry out field and office based geological, gas desorption analysis and other related tasks consistent with assigned projects and the overall business focus of Earth Data.
Field based work will be carried out at the Bowen and Surat Basins, hence candidates will need to be comfortable with working in remote locations.
Some of your specific responsibilities will include:
- Carry out field based geological tasks including core and cuttings sampling;
- Carry out field based gas absorption analysis tasks including monitoring and recording of drill rates;
- Carry out office based geological tasks including entry and collation of drill hole or other data into appropriate systems;
- Carry out office based gas absorption analysis tasks including organisation of samples into systematic units;
- Support, mentor and train new employees; and
- Be prepared to undertake Field Technician and maintenance duties as required.
Earth Data is looking for highly organised and flexible individuals with tertiary qualifications in Geology, Earth Science or a related discipline, along with solid experience in carrying out field and office based geological processes.
To be considered, you will possess demonstrated experience in gas desorption analysis, as well as experience in lithological logging, and total depth, off line, geology and desorb reporting.
The successful candidate will bring a high attention to detail and high level analytical, problem solving and lateral thinking skills to the role. Highly developed interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, including strong negotiation, conflict resolution and report writing skills are also essential, as is demonstrated self-motivation and enthusiasm.
Computer literacy will be important, particularly with the Microsoft Office suite of programs and Internet Explorer. A current manual driver's licence is a must.
