About the Opportunity

The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder is looking for a full-time Manager Airport based at Kalgoorlie-Boulder Airport, WA.

Reporting to the Director Corporate & Commercial, this critical leadership role is responsible for the safe, compliant, and efficient management of airport operations in line with national regulations and local government priorities.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Managing the overall operational control of Kalgoorlie-Boulder Airport
  • Developing and maintaining emergency and security plans per aviation regulations
  • Leading aerodrome technical inspections and compliance monitoring
  • Identifying and pursuing commercial and business development opportunities
  • Contributing to future terminal and airside infrastructure planning
  • Engaging key stakeholders and contributing to airport-related projects
  • Overseeing security screening of passengers and baggage
  • Preparing and managing airport-related budgets and reporting data
  • Leading staff with a strong focus on safety, compliance, and performance

About You

To qualify, you will need tertiary qualifications in aviation operations or substantial experience managing major regional or capital city airports, as well as demonstrable experience in local government or similar public sector environments.

The following certifications are essential:

  • Aviation Lead Auditor Qualification
  • Aviation Investigation Qualification
  • Radiotelephony Licence
  • Eligibility for an Australia-wide AusCheck ASIC
  • WA “C” Class driver’s licence
  • Current National Police Clearance

The following skills and qualifications are highly valued:

  • Certificate IV in Training & Assessment
  • Reporting Officer/Works Safety Officer Certificate
  • Stakeholder engagement and team leadership experience
  • Financial management and reporting expertise
  • Familiarity with infrastructure planning, project delivery, and airline liaison

As our ideal candidate, you’ll have a proven ability to balance operational rigour with strategic foresight, combining deep aviation knowledge with a strong grasp of local government processes. You'll be resilient, solutions-focused, and capable of leading a high-performing team in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a current airport operations leader or a capable aviation/regulatory professional with public sector experience ready to step into a high-impact executive role.
