About the Opportunity
Goulburn Mulwaree Council has an exciting opportunity for a Governance Coordinator to join their dynamic team in Goulburn.
In this pivotal role reporting to General Manager, you will manage the Governance and Public Officer functions of the Council.
More specifically, your duties will include (but not be limited to):
- Coordinating Governance functions, including conducting review panels, policy and complaints registers, and protected disclosures and delegations, in line with set time frames, budget expectations and section requirements;
- Developing and implementing strategic plans and policies;
- Preparing, advising and implementing corruption prevention strategies;
- Developing and conducting governance related training;
- Undertaking the Public Officer functions on behalf of Council, including access to information, privacy management and Subpoena coordination;
- Providing guidance across the organisation on governance related matters, and preparing correspondence and reports; and
- Ensuring the provision of effective customer service for governance related tasks and functions.
Council is looking for a driven and strategic individual with several years experience in the coordination of Governance / Business related activities, and ideally, a relevant tertiary qualification in Governance. The successful candidate will need to possess a demonstrated understanding of public sector governance, and the ability to both review systems, processes and procedures and to implement improvements.
To be considered, will have need to have high level communication skills, both written and verbal, along with proficiency in the use of computer applications. You will also need to have well developed time management skills, including demonstrated experience in project management, coupled with exceptional customer service skills. The ability to prioritise and be flexible within a fast paced environment, and a proven analytical and innovative approach to your work will see you succeed in this role!
A demonstrated knowledge of the legislative environment within which Councils operate, and local government experience in a similar role will both be well regarded.
