Your Opportunity in Fleet Leadership
Tenterfield Shire Council is now seeking a full-time Fleet Coordinator, based in Tenterfield, NSW.
Reporting to the Manager Infrastructure Delivery, you will lead a team of four and take responsibility for the acquisition, maintenance, and effective utilisation of Council’s fleet and equipment.
More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Coordinating the planning, acquisition, maintenance, and disposal of Council’s fleet
- Managing light and heavy vehicles, plant, and equipment programs
- Delivering the Plant Maintenance Program and Fleet Asset Management Plan
- Ensuring fleet compliance with all regulatory and safety standards
- Overseeing recalls, warranty repairs, and arranging temporary replacement vehicles
- Supervising and developing the Fleet team, including performance reviews and guidance
- Preparing tender documentation and managing procurement processes
- Developing fleet replacement programs and cost-effective maintenance strategies
- Analysing fleet performance data and preparing forecasts and financial reports
- Collaborating with Council sections to support fleet compliance and operational improvement
- Driving continuous improvement in fleet operations, safety, and financial performance

Is This You?
To qualify, you will need qualifications in a mechanical trade, along with qualifications or significant experience in a similar role. Prior experience in fleet management or a related industry is also considered essential. Also, must hold a Construction Induction (White) Card. Previous local government experience will be well regarded though is not considered essential.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a mechanic or tradesperson ready to step into a senior leadership and supervisory role.

- Experience working in Local Government
- Certificate IV in Front Line Management/Supervision
- Authorised Inspection Scheme (AIS) accreditation (support available)
- Heavy Rigid (HR) Driver’s Licence
- First Aid Certificate
- Chemcert Accreditation
- Understanding of safety standards relating to water, sewer, and waste environments
- Physical ability for manual handling, safety drills, and rescues
Additional Requirements
The successful candidate must:
- Hold a Class C Australian Driver’s Licence (manual preferred)
- Be willing to obtain a National Criminal History Record Check prior to commencement
- Undertake a pre-employment medical examination (at Council expense)
