Who We Are – A Community-Led Health Service Making a Difference

Yura Yungi Medical Service Aboriginal Corporation (YYMS) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation delivering culturally safe healthcare services across the Halls Creek region of Western Australia.

Beyond primary health care, YYMS manages Yura Yungi Menkawum Ngurra Elders Residence — a culturally grounded aged care facility dedicated to supporting Aboriginal Elders to live with dignity, independence and connection to community.

Currently home to 18 residents (28-bed capacity), the service is preparing for significant expansion, with plans underway to develop a larger, purpose-built facility within the next two years. As part of this growth strategy, YYMS is strengthening its permanent nursing workforce — building a stable, committed clinical team that will shape the future of aged care in the region.

Your Impact – Lead Care With Purpose

Yura Yungi Medical Service Aboriginal Corporation is seeking full-time Registered Nurses based in Halls Creek, WA.

Reporting to the Clinical & Quality Manager, you will provide holistic, culturally appropriate nursing care to Aboriginal Elders while helping build a strong and sustainable permanent workforce.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Delivering comprehensive clinical assessments and direct nursing care
  • Developing, reviewing and implementing individualised care plans
  • Leading and mentoring PCAs within a multidisciplinary team
  • Managing admissions, referrals and care coordination processes
  • Ensuring compliance with National Aged Care Quality Standards and relevant legislation
  • Maintaining accurate, timely clinical documentation and reporting
  • Responding effectively to clinical risks and serious incidents
  • Participating in audits and continuous quality improvement initiatives
  • Supporting culturally safe care practices for Aboriginal residents
  • Contributing to a respectful, collaborative and community-focused workplace

With expansion plans underway, this role offers genuine long-term career growth, including opportunities to step into senior or leadership responsibilities as the service evolves.

Sponsorship opportunities are available for suitable onshore candidates under a standard three-year contract arrangement.

Who You Are – Clinically Strong, Culturally Grounded

To qualify, you will need a Bachelor of Nursing and current AHPRA registration. A minimum of 2 years’ experience in aged care will also be essential.

Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

  • Experience working in aged care facilities
  • Experience working in Aboriginal or remote community settings
  • Strong understanding of culturally safe care practices

As our ideal candidate, you bring genuine passion for aged care and deep respect for Aboriginal culture. You are adaptable, resilient and ready to embrace life in a remote community setting.

Halls Creek is a close-knit community of approximately 4,000 people, offering a slower pace of life, minimal traffic and a strong local connection. While major city amenities require travel, many professionals find the lifestyle grounding, peaceful and professionally rewarding.

This role will suit a nurse ready to step away from metropolitan churn and into meaningful, community-based practice — someone seeking purpose, stability and the opportunity to grow alongside a developing service.

Please Note: As part of our onboarding process, successful candidates will be asked to provide two professional referees and complete a National Police Clearance prior to commencement.

What You’ll Receive – Rewarding Work, Real Support

Compensation based on skills and experience is a competitive annual salary of $90,000 – $110,000 PLUS Super, along with a host of benefits, including:

  • Salary packaging up to $30,000 per annum
  • Heavily Subsidised Accommodation (private bedroom with ensuite, shared common areas)
  • Relocation assistance up to $4,000
  • Airfare covered at commencement and completion of fixed-term contracts
  • $2,000 Annual Flight Allowance after 12 months of service
  • Supportive leadership committed to workforce stability
