About the Opportunity
A division of the Casman Group of Companies, Casman Construction Ltd.is seeking a General Manager to work in their Fort McMurray location.
You will chiefly be responsible for overseeing the operations of the business. You have a keen business sense, which will help you understand and collaborate in a unionized environment with a variety of personnel from various backgrounds.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer of the Casman Construction Group of Companies, your unique skill set will be utilized to perform the following day-to-day tasks:
- Drive new project prospecting efforts and propose action plans to generate revenues;
- Oversee the operations and performance of the company and manage its compliance with legal and regulatory requirements;
- Establish and monitor the progress of set targets, policies, and procedures for enhancing financial performance, safety and quality;
- Direct project managers in utilizing the organization’s resources in the most effective ways possible;
- Establish and lead a program for the recruitment, retention, training and development of competent senior project leadership to expand business competencies; and
- Develop business plans and budgets in order to maximize revenue and support sustainable growth.
To be eligible for this role, you will need to have:
- A University Degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field;
- 10+ years of experience in a senior leadership management role dealing with large-scale construction projects, including field supervision, engineering and design processes;
- Previously worked in the industrial construction industry, with a background in heavy construction, including pipe laying, paving, and trucking; and
- Human Resource experience (mentoring construction managers and project managers, and leading an organization of 100-200 people or more).
Advanced studies in Business, Finance, Management, or Construction will be considered an asset.
In this role, you will be exercising your strong business acumen. You’ll be faced with making sound business decisions, and will need experience in revenue growth, cash flow management, and contract management.
As the GM, you will need a strong record of achievement in leading the financial and operational affairs of a large construction organization. A record of high integrity, performance, and strong operational leadership is required. Also, you enjoy facing problems and devising solutions to resolve them.
The GM will be a capable leader, with admirable management skills and a work ethic second to none. You are an adaptable individual, who can be sensitive to your team’s needs, but can also motivate people to perform at their highest level. You communicate with other parties clearly, and are able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
In this highly visible role, you will be conversing with various internal and external stakeholders, including the CEO, Managers, Architects & Engineers and consultants. You'll need to set an example for others by ensuring all activities align themselves with the values and vision of the company.
